Advent #13: "Would you have thought that..."?

We asked very different people - more or less spontaneously - to give examples from the category "I would never have thought that...".

Whether from research, science, society, or other areas. What we humans are capable of shows this "Best of"!

I never thought that...

... 3D printing can print human tissue, such as cartilage.
... a robot can take over the cleaning for me.
... I go 'climbing' with glasses and no longer need (real) mountains.
... Taxis can fly.
... Cars themselves will be the better drivers.
... 400 tons (first flight Airbus A-380).
... you can create music for eternity despite hearing loss (Beethoven).
... People with refrigerators talkto order fresh milk.
... a wristwatch can write an EGK and measure the blood oxygen.
... in the future, a robot can take over large parts of patient care and care in hospitals.
... a 90-year-old can fly into space.
... many forms of cancer can be cured (e.B. with the help of computer-controlled precise irradiation).
... the human genome is decoded in parts and thus new ways of curing diseases are (can) be developed.
... you make a phone callwith awatch, open your car and have access to information and music.
... Blind people can see again (Lexturna/RPE65 Gens defect).
... a robot can fly an airplane better than a human.
... I can control my living space via my mobile phone.
... you can bring the world into your own living room through the Internet.
... there will be a "flight simulator" for surgeons – through the development of artificial (cyber-physical) organs as a 'training environment'.
... you hardly have to move when cycling.
... in the near future, artificial intelligence can help detect diseases and control their treatment.
... humanity would virtually eradicate polio.
... there are prostheses with which athletes can sprint the 100m under 11 seconds.

Because the unthinkable is possible!
